Raised on a farm in rural Australia, Richard Christiansen built a career in New York’s high-fashion creative world before finding his way back to the rhythms of nature. In 2013, he discovered a weathered 1940s Spanish-colonial estate tucked into the hills of Los Angeles — a sanctuary of gardens, fruit trees, and possibility. Over the years, he’s cultivated this lush hillside retreat into a living, breathing masterpiece, where guests can wander, linger, and experience the art of slowing down.

From this magical estate came Flamingo Estate — part bohemian apothecary, part ode to the earth. Everything is made in house from the Heirloom Tomato Hand Soap that smells like brushing past sun-warmed vines to their botanical bar soaps  that lather like silk, each one is wrapped like a little gift. The cult-favorite Tomato Candle captures the lush, green scent of late summer in a single flicker, while the Manuka Honey Hand Cream is rich, nourishing, and wildly addictive and has earned a loyal following as one of the brand’s best sellers.

If you’re lucky enough to live in Los Angeles, Flamingo Estate delivers straight from the garden to your doorstep — farm-fresh produce, pantry treasures, and seasonal delights packed with the same beauty and care found in every product, but if you’re in Montreal you’re lucky because now its at the glwshop!

Christiansen has also shared his philosophy in two books, offering readers a glimpse into his world of ritual, design, and sensory pleasure. As he says, Mother Nature is “the last great luxury house.” Step inside Flamingo Estate, and you’ll understand why.
