Fire cider is a traditional herbal remedy made by steeping pungent, spicy, and immune-supportive ingredients in apple cider vinegar. It’s zesty, warming, and often used during cold and flu season to help ward off illness and boost circulation.

Classic Fire Cider Recipe (1 L Mason Jar)

Ingredients:

  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 head of garlic, peeled and crushed
  • 1–2 hot peppers (like jalapeño), sliced
  • ½ cup fresh ginger root, grated
  • ½ cup fresh horseradish root, grated
  • 1 lemon, sliced
  • 2–3 sprigs of fresh rosemary or thyme
  • Apple cider vinegar (raw, with “mother”)

(You can also add honey to taste BUT add in after straining ingredients)

Instructions:

  1. Pack all chopped and grated ingredients into a clean, 1 L airtight mason jar.
  2. Cover completely with apple cider vinegar, leaving a little space at the top. (Some people add parchment paper before closing the lid so that the acidity of the apple cider vinegar doesn’t rust the lid)

  3. Seal tightly, label the jar, and store it in a cool, dark, dry place (like a cupboard) for 4-6 weeks

  4. Shake the jar lightly every couple of days to help with extraction.

Fermenting Time

  • Let it infuse for about 4–6 weeks.
  • Strain out the solids and stir in honey to taste.

Take a tablespoon or shot every day

Timing

If you start a batch in early September, it will be ready by mid-October, just in time for the fall cold season.

Key Benefits

  • Supports immune health
  • Clears sinuses
  • Stimulates circulation and digestion
  • Provides natural antibacterial and antiviral properties
