Fire cider is a traditional herbal remedy made by steeping pungent, spicy, and immune-supportive ingredients in apple cider vinegar. It’s zesty, warming, and often used during cold and flu season to help ward off illness and boost circulation.
Classic Fire Cider Recipe (1 L Mason Jar)
Ingredients:
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 head of garlic, peeled and crushed
- 1–2 hot peppers (like jalapeño), sliced
- ½ cup fresh ginger root, grated
- ½ cup fresh horseradish root, grated
- 1 lemon, sliced
- 2–3 sprigs of fresh rosemary or thyme
-
Apple cider vinegar (raw, with “mother”)
(You can also add honey to taste BUT add in after straining ingredients)
Instructions:
- Pack all chopped and grated ingredients into a clean, 1 L airtight mason jar.
-
Cover completely with apple cider vinegar, leaving a little space at the top. (Some people add parchment paper before closing the lid so that the acidity of the apple cider vinegar doesn’t rust the lid)
-
Seal tightly, label the jar, and store it in a cool, dark, dry place (like a cupboard) for 4-6 weeks
-
Shake the jar lightly every couple of days to help with extraction.
Fermenting Time
- Let it infuse for about 4–6 weeks.
-
Strain out the solids and stir in honey to taste.
Take a tablespoon or shot every day
