High on the hills of Los Angeles, surrounded by orchards, olive trees, and wildflowers, sits Flamingo Estate—a modern sanctuary that celebrates nature’s abundance through thoughtfully crafted products and experiences. Founded by creative director Richard Christiansen, the brand began as a deeply personal project: the restoration of his Spanish Colonial–style home and gardens. Over time, it transformed into a flourishing lifestyle brand rooted in regeneration, sensuality, and connection to the land.

From a Garden to a Global Brand

Christiansen purchased the estate in 2013 and spent years reviving its neglected gardens. He planted citrus groves, olive orchards, medicinal herbs, and hundreds of flowers, creating an ecosystem that nourishes not only the land but also the imagination.

When the pandemic hit in 2020, Flamingo Estate became more than a private retreat—it became a lifeline for local farmers. Christiansen began selling farm boxes filled with seasonal produce, supporting out-of-work growers and craftspeople. The venture expanded quickly, introducing candles, soaps, pantry goods, and botanical body care—all inspired by the garden’s scents, flavors, and textures.

Philosophy: Radical Indulgence with Purpose

Flamingo Estate’s ethos is simple yet profound: pleasure is an essential part of living well. Every product is an invitation to slow down, savor, and reconnect with nature’s cycles.

  • Regenerative farming is at the brand’s core—working with small farms that prioritize soil health, biodiversity, and clean growing methods.

  • Ingredients are traceable and pure, with each one celebrated for its story and origin.

  • Packaging is beautiful yet sustainable, often designed to be reused or composted.

Christiansen describes the brand as “a garden of good and evil”—where beauty and indulgence meet responsibility and stewardship.

Flamingo Estate’s offerings span home, body, and pantry, with each product crafted to awaken the senses. We are thrilled to be carrying a curated selection of products on the GLW shop!

Beyond goods, Flamingo Estate hosts seasonal feasts and gatherings, blending food, music, and garden tours—turning the estate into a living stage for storytelling and celebration.

Flamingo Estate is building a community of nature lovers, home cooks, and design enthusiasts who share a desire for authenticity and connection. Its collaborations with artisans, farmers, and chefs extend its ethos far beyond the estate’s gates.

Christiansen envisions Flamingo Estate as a “billion-dollar garden brand,” a global presence that still feels intimate and hand-crafted. His book, The Guide to Becoming Alive, deepens the narrative, drawing poetic parallels between human character and plant life.

The Essence of Flamingo Estate

In a world that moves fast and often feels disconnected, Flamingo Estate offers an antidote: slow, sensual living. Whether through the flicker of a tomato-scented candle, the taste of a sun-ripened olive, or the feel of a botanical body oil on the skin, each moment with Flamingo Estate is an invitation to delight in the natural world—and to protect it.

Flamingo Estate is not just a place. It’s a philosophy, a sensory journey, and a love letter to the earth.
