Hi, my name is Katherine and I am addicted to lipstick. Nice to meet you. I know most women have their one or two lipsticks that they swear by and wear on repeat, but this woman is a little excessive (as you all know). Compiling this list was tough, how do people just choose one or two? I love me a good lipstick, lip gloss, lip balm, etc… So much so that often times my handbag is filled with them and people think I am completely insane. However insane it may be think of me as your human guinea pig – because my desire to try all things beauty becomes your guide to finding hidden treasures you may never have known about.
When it comes to lipsticks, I tend to go for creamy textures, not overly pigmented and generally all around the same shade. I like mauve, rosy type colors, basically colors that look like natural lip color but more exaggerated.
CHARLOTTE TILBURY MATTE REVOLUTION LIPSTICK (Color PILLOW TALK)
This is my go-to and has been for years. It is that perfect lip color, very natural looking, but so sexy and stays on nicely. This is one of the only lipsticks that I wear that is more on the matte side. I do find it to still be quite creamy and I think it will remain a staple for me until the end of time (is that dramatic?).
LOVE IT: Really recommend this to everyone. It comes with a hefty price tag, but you won’t regret it! I think this shade looks great on everyone, no matter the skin tone or hair color.
LEAVE IT: Dry lipped ladies – this may not be for you. If you are someone who has perpetually dry, chapped lips I would probably recommend something a little more moisturizing.
BUXOM FULL FORCE PLUMPING LIPSTICK (Color BOSS)
This is a newer addition for me and has replaced another one of my old favorites, (Buxom’s bold gel lipstick) photographed above – which has recently been discontinued. I am loving this new lipstick because the color ranges are stunning, the texture is exactly what I like in a lipstick. Creamy, not stick, not overly glossy and stays on well but not too well (I hate when lipstick stains).
LOVE IT: This is great for everyone – especially if you have smaller lips, this will give you that pouty effect and enhance your lip size as it has a plumper in it. Also, great for those with drier lips as it moisturizes well and doesn’t dry out the lips.
LEAVE IT: If you aren’t a fan of that plumping effect or tingle this isn’t for you and I wouldn’t recommend any Buxom lip products to you because they all plump and tingle.
BUXOM POWERPLUMP (Color GLOWING)
Ok so this isn’t exactly a lipstick, but it also isn’t exactly a gloss and I use it like a lipstick. As I mentioned earlier, I don’t love a heavy, overly pigmented lipstick so I often go for that in between texture like this one. This is a plumping and hydrating lip balm that gives really nice color that stays on pretty well and long. It isn’t overly glossy, it really is just a good all-around creamy, moisturizing balm with a beautiful natural looking color.
LOVE IT: I always suggest this to someone who doesn’t love lipstick but also doesn’t want to wear a glossy gloss. It’s the perfect hybrid. Also, great for younger girls because it’s natural looking and plumps up the lips nicely! Also, great for my chapped lipped ladies!
LEAVE IT: If you are more into the matte, sultry look this isn’t the product for you.
KOSASPORT LIPFUEL HYALURONIC LIP BALM (color RUSH)
Same deal here as the last one! This isn’t really a lipstick per se, but it acts like one. It’s a super hydrating (even has hyaluronic acid) which not only makes the appearance of your lips more hydrated, but it actually goes into the lip and hydrates long term. The color is beautiful and very natural and the brand itself is totally clean and you can feel good knowing you have used a natural, clean ingredient product.
LOVE IT: Love this for someone who is into natural makeup brands, concerned about using green beauty products. Something it’s not easy to find clean ingredients with results and this product gives you that!
LEAVE IT: This formula is great but doesn’t stay on very long and the product goes quite quickly. So, if you are like me and reapply often and are on a budget this may not be the one for you!
