Right now a lot of us are masking more than usual because we have nothing but time and are stuck at home. Like most skincare, different products work best for different skin types so we at GLW have decided to share which masks we are loving at the moment.
KG:
Skin Type: Normal/ Combination
Skin Concerns: Congestion, cystic acne
Skin Goals: Smooth, clear, glowy skin
I am a true mask lover and make sure to incorporate a mask into my routine 1-2 times a week. These days it’s been more like 3-4 times a week but who’s counting! I choose my masks based on the condition of my skin at the moment.
Right now, *knock on wood* my skin has been in a great, happy place. I haven’t been able to do my monthly facial due to the quarantine and probably won’t be getting a good cleaning for a while so I am using masks with clay to really draw out impurities and keep my skin from getting congested. Here are the 2 I am loving right now.
Caudalie Instant Detox Mask:
This Instant Detox Mask acts like a vacuum to the pores to draw out excess oil and toxins, combat congestion, and reveal luminous skin. Grape marc powerfully detoxifies, while pink clay and coffee absorb blackhead-causing dirt and excess sebum. These Natural ingredients combat excess oil that causes stubborn blemishes. Papaya enzymes invigorate and brighten, and organic essential oils like lavender and sage actively fight off bacteria, reducing the probability of future breakouts.
LOVE IT: This mask is great if you have a little congestion and some blackheads and need a good light cleaning every couple days.
LEAVE IT: If you have really oily skin with lots of blackheads you may want to opt for a clay mask that’s a little more heavy duty like the Aztek Clay mask.
Farmacy Bright On Mask:
Brighten and detox in one step with this vitamin C clay mask that changes color as it transforms the appearance of skin. The formula brightens and detoxes by removing buildup and impurities to visibly improve the appearance of texture and tone. As you massage it into your skin, the vitamin C capsules burst, turning the mask from lavender to green, so you know it’s working to bring out your brightest, most perfect skin. This mineral-rich clay removes excess oil and impurities to visibly diminish the appearance of pores, while a blend of fruit-derived AHAs and vitamin C brightens and clarifies.
LOVE IT: This is a great mask for normal/ combination skin like mine. It brightens, tightens and gives a nice gentle exfoliation.
LEAVE IT: If you are really trying to work on your pore size and have very bad congestion i don’t know if this is the mask for you. It will help provide a nice glow no matter what.

Skin Goals: Smooth, clear, hydrated skin
I’ve been very fortunate with the fact that I have fairly good skin. With the exception of a few breakouts (always happen when I’m about to get my period – like clockwork) A lot has to do with that I don’t normally wear makeup and I drink a fair amount of water throughout the day. I think that’s key to helping you have hydrated skin. These two masks have been my go-to the past little while. One offers a good deep clean while the other is more soothing, both leave my skin feeling refreshed.
Dead Sea origins – Mineral Gel Face Mask
I’m a big fan of Dead Sea products, after visiting Israel and going into the Dead Sea. Seeing the impact it had on my whole body. My skin felt incredibly smooth after I got out of the water. Any and all skin imperfections were resolved. I blindly trust all Dead Sea products now. This gentle treatment draws out dirt and impurities from your skin and peels away dead skin cells. It helps to restore elasticity and fortify the skin with essential moisturizers
LOVE IT: After using this mask I always feel like my skin has had a good deep clean. This is great for oily skin that needs a good deep cleansing.
LEAVE IT: If you prefer a thicker face mask that hardens. This gel is a light weight texture with a slight cooling effect. Those with sensitive skin may not like the cooling effect.
new zealand rotorua mud – Face mask with Aloe Vera & Cucumber
I received this mask in a subscription box. I had never heard of the brand before. This is a thin layered peel-able face mask, designed to lift away impurities and dead skin cells. Appropriate for normal to dry-skin types.
LOVE IT: If you like the smell of cucumber and aloe. I could just eat it up!
LEAVE IT: If you don’t enjoy peel away masks. This definitely isn’t for you. The layer you apply is thin and it takes some time to remove it all.

Skin Concerns: Dark spots, hormonal acne, oily skin
Skin Goals: Smooth, clear, hydrated skin
One of my biggest concerns regarding my skin right now is how oily it gets. No matter what I do and no matter how much water I drink (admittedly, I don’t actually drink as much water as I should but those are just minor details).
Another concern of mine are dark spots which I’ve gotten over the years due to acne. While my skin goes through some really great phases, it also goes through some really bad phases and it’s usually when I’m about to get my period. However, I’ve tried my fair share of products throughout the years and these are some of my favourites:
Fresh Black Tea Perfecting Mask
This mask is one of my favourites because of its whipped like texture. The mask is extremely hydrating and it leaves you with a cool and tingling effect which makes it the perfect addition to your morning routine.
LOVE IT: This mask is great if you’re looking for instant luminous skin. It also leaves your skin feeling SO smooth. You won’t want to stop touching your face.
LEAVE IT: If you have sensitive skin, you might not enjoy the cooling sensation.
The Ordinary Salicylic Acid 2% Masque
Whenever my skin is breaking out, this is the mask that I gravitate towards. This mask helps by improving your skin’s texture while also removing dead skin cells on the surface of oily or acne-prone skin.
LOVE IT: You’ll absolutely adore this mask if you want something deep cleansing that targets pores and acne prone skin.
LEAVE IT: If your skin is sensitive and on the drier side, you’ll want to avoid this one.
