In my early twenties, eye cream was the first thing that I added to my beauty routine beyond cleanser and moisturizer. I remember getting a facial (which btw I used to dread doing) and my esthetician recommending I start using an eye cream. It felt annoying to add a step but I’ve always been about prevention, especially when it comes to my skin. Little did I know that I would become a full-blown skin care junkie.

Eye cream is one of those things that I suggest to everyone. I think everyone should use an eye cream because the skin around our eye area is very thin and it’s also the first area to develop fine lines and wrinkles. Using an eye cream on that area twice a day will help keep it moisturized and slow down the ageing process while also helping with puffiness and dark circles. I cover what step to use eye cream in my steps of skincare article click here to view. When applying eye cream I suggest using your ring finger and lighting dabbing it around the orbital bone and not directly under your eye. The cream will spread to the whole eye area and do its job!

Here are a few of my go to’s:

Drunk Elephant C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream

This eye cream is really good. It is moisturizing and contains vitamin C so it’s very brightening. It also soothes the eye area because it contains cucumber extracts. I have very sensitive eyes and Drunk Elephant’s other eye cream gave me a reaction where as this one didn’t!

LOVE IT: New to eye cream? This is a great option for you. Even if you are in your early twenties, it’s not too soon. This product does exactly what you need to start age prevention, moisturizes, de puffs and brightens.

LEAVE IT: I wouldn’t recommend this for aging eyes. this isn’t a potent formula and isn’t the product I would recommend to someone who wants to refresh their look and get powerful results.

Sunday Riley Auto Correct Eye Cream

This eye cream has been my holy grail since it launched. I switch around but I always come back to this product. I like it because it delivers a lifted and de-puffed look to the eye area while rapidly reducing the appearance of dark circles and fine lines. It also looks really nice and bright under makeup.

LOVE IT: This works really well for anyone in their late 20s and in their 30s. It’s a great for those with dark circles and puffiness as it contains caffeine. It’s also great if you have dehydrated under eyes, this product is very hydrating.

LEAVE IT: Many people get milia (small white bumps) under the skin around the eye, this cream may trigger that because it is quite thick and can be too much for aging eyes with very thin skin.

Dr Barbara Sturm Eye Cream

Like most of Dr Sturm’s line, this product is a major splurge but I had to try it for myself and saw great de-puffing, smoothing results from it. It won’t be my go to because it’s quite pricey but it’s lightweight yet effective.

LOVE IT: For anyone! The texture is nice and light yet super hydrating, brightening, de-puffing. It refines the eye area and noticeably reduces fine lines. If you are looking to splurge- go for it!

LEAVE IT: Not necessary for younger skin types. Something of this price and science isn’t needed when you’re younger so save your money and use something a little more affordable and less active.

Shiva Rose Blue Crystal Eye Cream

This is a super gentle, moisturizing cream that is totally clean and natural. It contains blue tansy which is very hydrating and plumping. It also contains hyaluronic acid and calendula so it will not only lock in moisture but also calm the eye area.

LOVE IT: If you are a green beauty lover and trying to use mainly clean products, this is a great option because it’s packed with good ingredients that actually work. If you have very sensitive, reactive skin this is also a good option because it has ingredients that calm and soothe the skin.

LEAVE IT: If you are looking for serious results this probably isn’t your best bet and you are better off with something more active.

Dr. Sebagh Instant Fix Eye Lift Gel

Unlike the other products on this list, this is more of a gel than a cream. It’s very cooling and really does lift and tighten the skin in addition to helping with collagen production and anti-aging.

LOVE IT: This is a really great option for aging skin and crepe-y eye area. Its gel texture instantly absorbs and gets to work. This isn’t the most hydrating and can even be layer with a moisturizing cream.

LEAVE IT: Younger skin, you probably don’t need this, it’s very active and lifting.

The list could go on but these are currently the eye creams that I have found really effective. Let me know if there are other hero products you’re loving that you think I should try!

  1. My under eyes are the worst for those little white dots/milia which eye cream would be best for someone who already has those?
