I buy, receive and try a lot of different things in the course of a month. Probably more than most people you know and definitely more than is necessary. However, it is my job to know what’s going on in the world of wellness, beauty and fashion and I’m here for it!
We decided it was time to do a monthly review series, where I round up the things I have been gifted, purchased and tried within that month and let you know what’s worth trying and purchasing and what you should pass on. We would love your feedback on products and items you have been wanting reviewed. Please leave your suggestions in the comment section down below and we will be sure to test them out for you! Elemis Superfood Cleansing butter
Elemis collagen cleansing balm is my absolute favorite cleansing balm of all time when I saw this new launch, I ordered it immediately. My first reaction was that I didn’t love the texture, I was expecting a balm consistency, and this is more fluid. Almost a mix between a balm cleanser and a cream cleanser texture. The actual product is great, it removes all makeup and contains some powerhouse ingredients including AHA’s which are excellent for congested, acne prone and blackhead prone skin types. I do love the ritual of balm cleansing and really prefer the texture of a balm over this butter but the actual product is great.
Dr Sturm The Good C Vitamin C Serum
This is Dr Sturm’s latest launch, I always found it weird she didn’t have a Vitamin C product in her range. Vitamin C is my absolute favorite active ingredient so of course, I ordered this as soon as it launched. Let me start by saying that I am almost always underwhelmed by Dr Strum’s serums. I guess when I am paying such a high price I expect to be blown away. I have used this serum for 4 weeks and as expected I am pretty underwhelmed for the price. My skin definitely looks nice and bright but that’s about it, I didn’t love the texture or the finish. The product was hard to get out of the bottle. I couldn’t wait to switch back to my Skin Ceuticals CF.
Dae Daily Shampoo & Deep Conditioning Hair Mask
I have seen this brand on Instagram here and there and never thought too deeply about it. Then it launched on Sephora. I looked at the ingredients, they were clean and sulfate free (safe for my keratin treated hair). The packaging was stunning and very aesthetically pleasing, not to mention they come with a pump (best thing ever). I ordered, and both products really blew me away and will become staples for me. The shampoo really cleans the hair and gives that squeaky clean feeling while still leaving the hair hydrated, it’s rare for a sulfate free shampoo to do that. The hair mask is actually on another level of excellent. I think it’s in my top 3 hair masks ever, and that says a lot. It’s super nourishing, hydrating and leaves hair feeling like silk but doesn’t weigh down hair or make it feel oily. Obsessed with these products and currently waiting for their hair oil to arrive.
FENTY FAT WATER PORE REFINING TONER SERUM
I purchased this because I saw Rihanna use it in a video and she said she swears by this. It’s supposed to be a toner and serum in one that you apply to skin and it plumps, brightens, tightens and helps with dark spots. I personally didn’t like this product, I have tried so many things that claim to do the same things as this and this just didn’t impress me at all. I used it for a good 3 weeks and decided to move on as I didn’t love the application or texture, saw no results and didn’t love the way it left my skin feeling.
THE METHOD FUCKING BEAUTIFUL ROSE OIL
Ok, so firstly, the name is incredible and so is the woman who owns the brand. Ingrid De La Mar Kenney is my Instagram friend/ become a real friend and someone I go to for advice and banter. I love her products like inulin and order often, one day she included her Rose oil , which I have seen her use and rave about for a while. The hype is real, this oil is not some basic rose oil, it’s super luxurious on the skin, sourced from Morocco and truly plumps up and hydrates the skin so nicely. I love using this after all my products at night or before a facial massage session. It has evened out my skin tone and helps with dark spots. Will def be reordering.
Strivectin TL Advanced Neck Cream
I have coined 2021 the year of the neck. I am getting older and while I feel like I have my face under control, I haven’t focused too much on my neck and well, they kind of need to match! I have heard about this cream all over from different influencers so decided it was time to try it out for myself. I have been using it for a good month and a bit and definitely do feel some tightening around my neck area. I don’t notice any radical differences, but that wouldn’t be realistic anyways. I love the texture of this cream, its super thick and feels really nice to apply. I also apply to my jaw line to give it an extra snatch. So far so good, not sure if I will repurchase or try something else since this neck cream world is all new to me! Let me know if there is a neck cream you guys swear by.
Skinceuticals Metacell Vitamin B3
This is probably my fave product of the month! I have been using it for over 30 days now and all I can say is wow. I saw this product while browsing on my favorite skincare website, Boutique Skin Envie. Seeing b3 in the title of the product sold me instantly because niacinamide (vitamin b3) is one of my absolute favorite ingredients. It is excellent for reducing dark spots and pigmentation and leaves the skin glowing. This product has 5% niacinamide, combined with a firming tripeptide concentrate, and 15% pure glycerin to address early signs of photoaging. The texture is really nice and leaves skin feeling glowy, hydrated and not sticky. I use this morning and night after my vitamin c and my acid serums.
TOWER28 BEACHPLEASE LIP AND CHEEK CREAM BLUSH
I was sent a really nice PR box from this brand after raving about their lip gloss and this was included in it. I love a cream blush, so I was excited to use and try this. I am a fan, this is exactly what I look for in a cream blush, it’s creamy, pigmented and dewy. It really gives you that natural, just left the beach look. The colors are beautiful as well, I personally use the Magic Hour shade, but I am going to try more. Loving this brand!
Eminence Rice Milk 3 in 1 Cleaning Water
Eminence has been one of my faves in the clean beauty space for a long time. This brand recently launched on Boutique Skin Envie so I ordered some new products to try out! This product is awesome, it cleanses and tones in one step with this all-natural and organic Rice Milk. It’s super nutrient rich, and hydrating, it contains antioxidants and vitamins and the whole process of using it is really nice. I like to use this in the morning as my cleanser, I apply to a cotton pad all over my face and then rinse with water. Really great product for those with sensitive skin or who want a nourishing cleansing experience. I don’t love the scent but it’s not that bad!
Saie Beauty Sun Visor
I had been seeing this brand a lot and really wanted to try it out but at the time they weren’t shipping to Canada. I was able to order it to my friend in the US who then shipped it to me. This product specifically excited me because I am always looking for great natural SPFs that don’t clog the pores. This product is awesome, it plumps and hydrates with ingredients like Grapeseed Oil, Hyaluronic Acid, and Vitamin E while Zinc Oxide protects against both UVA and UVB rays. It is sheer and lightweight and leaves skin looking dewy and feeling fresh. Easy to apply and even easier for your skin to absorb. I love it, unfortunately this product isn’t available in Canada for the moment.
Mount Lai Tension Melting Massager for Face and Neck
I love a facial massage tool, it’s a big part of my morning beauty routine and calming ritual. I also love the effects it has on my skin and appearance. I have never tried any of Mount Lai’s products but got this massager and truly love using it. It’s excellent to use on the back of the neck up into the hair, it really does release tension and leave you feeling calm and relaxed. This tool is also really easy to use and hold onto, sculpts the jawline and cheekbone so nicely while draining any puffiness away. Highly suggest this! Makes a great gift too. Make sure not to drop it, it’s very delicate and breaks easily.
