The Importance of Face Masks…and How To Make Them Fashion

This summer, you would think the top style trends would be cute bucket hats and square-toed sandals. NOPE – cute face masks are. With COVID-19 showing no signs of going anywhere, people are urged to protect themselves and their communities by masking up and physical distancing.

I get it. Masks are uncomfortable though – especially when it’s so hot outside that you can fry an egg on the sidewalk. No need to be uncomfortable while limiting the spread of germs. You can breathe easy and kill your style game by taking a little time to pick some cool AF masks.

Before we get started, remember to choose a mask that fits your face properly with a little extra room to breathe easily. Remember – stylish cloth masks are not for medical use, but are great for limiting the spread of germs to those around you. And wear your mask while outdoors if you cannot physical distance by at least two metres!
1. Choose 100% Cotton Masks
These will make it so much easier to breathe especially as the mercury soars. If you are a fan of outdoor group workouts, find a cute mask made of sweat-wicking fabric.
2. Masks in Neutrals
Neutral colours will generally complement more outfits in your wardrobe. I’m talking beiges, whites, greys, blacks and pale pinks.
3. Ears hurting from the elastic mask straps?
Opt for masks that have ribbons or tie-back straps. Not only can you tie them behind your head to make a stylish statement, you can adjust how loose the mask is to boost breathability.
4. Go all out and make a statement with bold prints.
I bought an African-print mask from Ngozika Okeke which is beautiful and colourful.

5. Mask Chains in Yellow Gold are HOT!!
Love Cuban link chains which make a super chic statement and best of all, you won’t lose your mask a thousand times a day like yours truly!
