Bone broth has been trending for the last few years but it is nothing new and has been a staple in many cultures for years. It is one of the most inexpensive, nutrient dense and healing foods you can consume. Bone broth is made up of bones, generally chicken or beef, water, an acid, like vinegar and herbs, spices and vegetables. It is slow cooked, and the nutrients are super easy to digest. One of the major nutritional benefits are the amino acids, high gelatin content making it super healing for the gut.

A few years back I used to make and drink bone broth regularly, I was having a lot of digestive and gut issues and when doing my research most of the health professionals I trusted suggested bone broth as a great remedy. As mentioned before bone broth is very high in essential amino acids which are all excellent for leaky gut, hair, skin and nails. Also incredible for the immune system.

When COVID-19 became a threat, I instantly made a big batch of bone broth to help boost my gut health, which in turn boosts immunity. I now drink at least 1 big cup a day. I often buy my bone broth, even though it is really easy to make. The brand I like is called Bonadife, you can find it linked down below.

Here is the recipe I follow to make my bone broth, I did not invent this recipe. As a matter of fact I don’t even know where I got it but it’s pretty simple and straightforward. I make mine in a slow cooker and always have, however you can easily make this in a pot and leave it on low heat for as little as 4 hours an up to 48 hours.

This is the way I do it. There are tons of recipes online for other ways to do this, and how to do it with different bones. I have only ever made it with chicken bones that I keep after cooking full chickens and leave in freezer. I generally use bones from 2 chickens. See store bought options below.
