I have always been one to moisturize, do a weekly exfoliation, pre-spray tan and generally take very good care of the skin on my body. Recently, I stepped things up a notch or two and have been doing this 4-step body care routine for the last few months and the difference in my skin overall is amazing. The exterior appearance of my skin looks smoother, glowy, hydrated and nourished. This routine is also excellent for overall wellness as it detoxifies the body, drains the lymphatic system and boosts circulation. Also, all the products I’ve been using are made with natural, good for you ingredients so it’s a plus, plus, plus!
Here is my go-to routine that I now swear by and will get you smooth, glowing skin just in time for summer!
STEP 1: DRY BRUSHING
Dry brushing is incredible for exfoliation and removing dead skin which in turn allows your moisturizers and oils to penetrate deeper into the skin and helps with better moisturization. Dry brushing has many health benefits like stimulating the lymphatic system, helping the body rid itself of toxins, increasing circulation and energy all of which make your skin look and feel firmer, more even and radiant.
I do this 3-4 times a week and brush skin upwards, towards the heart about 8-10 times per section.
STEP 2: BODY SCRUB
My obsession with body scrubs has escalated… quickly. We now sell 4 different scrubs on our shop site, and I love all 4 equally. I scrub 4 days a week and swear by it! I find adding this to my daily shower routine is therapeutic and makes such a difference in the texture of my skin. I can’t pick favorites because each scrub does something different, and I like to use what I’m feeling that day.
STEP 3: BODY OIL
Another thing I have become very into is body oils. I generally layer with a moisturizer as well (because I’m extra) but the oil is an important part of the process. I switch up my oils depending on the day, my general “go to” is Skin & Senses Vanilla Bean Body Oil. I also use Agent Nateur Body Serum a few times a week because it makes my skin look like silk. I like to apply my oils right after the warm shower on slightly damp skin. This allows it to penetrate nicely into the skin and plump and hydrate the skin so beautifully.
STEP 4: BODY MASSAGE TOOL
This is not “new” in my routine, but I am definitely more consistent with doing this daily. After applying my oil I go in with this amazing tool and work my way upwards. Starting at my ankles I go over my lower leg in sections and working gently upwards about 10-12 times per section. Then I do my upper arms. I do not use this on my stomach or lower arms. This tool is excellent to drain the lymphatic system, flush out toxins and increase blood flow. I also love this post workout, it helps relieve muscle tension. It also makes a great gift!
