I buy, receive and try a lot of different things in the course of a month. Probably more than most people you know and definitely more than is necessary. However, it is my job to know what’s going on in the world of wellness, beauty and fashion and I’m here for it!
We decided it was time to do a monthly review series, where I round up the things I have been gifted, purchased and tried within that month and let you know what’s worth trying and purchasing and what you should pass on. We would love your feedback on products and items you have been wanting reviewed. Please leave your suggestions in the comment section down below and we will be sure to test them out for you!
Tatcha The Rice Wash Skin-Softening Cleanser
I am a big fan of Tatcha and I love their Enzyme Powder and I am also a big fan of cream cleansers so when I saw this I obviously had to try it out. I really enjoy using this as my wash off cleanser, you need very little product, it lathers up really nicely and feels very nourishing. It does a great job of removing excess dirt, makeup etc… does not strip the skin. Would definitely repurchase.
RATING: 5/5
Dyson Corrale Hair Straightener
I received this as a birthday gift from some friends (which was so generous and appreciated), I was obviously excited to try this because I love my Dyson Airwrap and I figured that a $600 ++ straightening iron has to be amazing… right?! WRONG. I am really unimpressed with this item. It is so heavy, the battery dies within 20 minutes, and it doesn’t even straighten hair nicely or leave hair feeling silky. I definitely would not recommend it. Especially for the price.
RATING: 1/5
Summer Fridays Lip Butter Balm
The hype is real. I didn’t purchase this when it initially launched a few months back because I just didn’t feel the need to. Then I kept seeing it being hailed as a holy grail product all over the internet, so of course I bought it. It’s really good, I bought 2 more to have in my bathroom and next to my bed. It leaves lips so soft, gives a nice glossy finish and doesn’t dry out lips like other balms.
RATING: 5/5
Olaplex No 0 Intensive Bond Building Hair Treatment Kit
I am an Olaplex lover and was really excited to try this product. I don’t have damaged or colored hair, but I enjoy a deep conditioning treatment every now and then. I used these 2 times in the last month and think it’s an excellent extension to the No 3 treatment. I would definitely recommend using only 1-2 times a month as overuse can make the hair feel coarse. This is a strengthening product not a moisturizing product. I would repurchase for sure.
RATING: 4/5
Laneige Waterbank Moisture Cream
I felt the need to try this product because I loved that the ingredients were extracted from mineral rich foods like brussel sprouts and lima beans. I really enjoy this cream at night, it has a nice gel like texture and is extremely hydrating but doesn’t sit heavy on the skin. You wake up glowing and your skin still feels moisturized. I don’t know if I would repurchase because there are so many other creams on the market that are similar but I am enjoying It.
RATING: 4/5
Coola Sun Silk Drops
My esthetician gave me this serum/spf to try out and I loved the concept and think this is a great concept. I don’t love the ingredients because it does contain chemical ingredients like avobenzone. I will say that this product feels incredible on the skin, leaves a nice silky finish and also contains SPF 30. It also is great for those with oily skin, breakout prone but I won’t really use this because I prefer to go with a physical, natural sunscreen for daily use.
RATING: 2/5
Bruush Toothbrush
I received this from a PR company, and I am OBSESSED! Firstly, the packaging is so beautiful and clean. The actual toothbrush is incredible, and you feel like you just left the dentist, that’s how clean your mouth and gums feel. There are multiple settings and I genuinely enjoy using this. I also love how pretty it looks on my bathroom counter. I have a promo code with the brand (KGMTL15 for 15% off)
RATING: 5/5
Bumble & Bumble Hairdresser’s Invisible Oil Mask
I love this hair mask. I have been using it for the past month and it’s incredible, doesn’t weigh down the hair and leaves my hair hydrated, silky and strong. Would definitely repurchase.
RATING: 4.5/5
Dr Bronner’s Hand Sanitizer Spray
Obviously, sanitizer is a necessity and I am a big fan of this one. I prefer to use a spray formula rather than a gel because I find it dries out my hands less. I also prefer to use this over Purell or other brands because the ingredients are clean yet effective. I like the peppermint or lavender equally as much!
RATING: 5/5
Glow Recipe Papaya Sorbet Smoothing Enzyme Cleansing Balm
I was hesitant to try this product because I haven’t really liked many of the products from this brand however one of our contributors, Matt (@dirtyboygetsclean) really enjoyed this so I purchased. I really enjoy using this but it’s definitely not my favourite texture. I do think it’s effective, doesn’t strip the skin and leaves skin soft and clean but I don’t love the scent. I wouldn’t repurchase but will definitely use this jar!
