Purchase or Pass: March 2023 Reviews

I buy, receive and try a lot of different things in the course of a month. Probably more than most people you know and definitely more than is necessary. However, it is my job to know what’s going on in the world of wellness, beauty and fashion and I’m here for it!

We decided it was time to do a monthly review series, where I round up the things I have been gifted, purchased and tried within that month and let you know what’s worth trying and purchasing and what you should pass on. We would love your feedback on products and items you have been wanting reviewed. Please leave your suggestions in the comment section down below and we will be sure to test them out for you!

Alastin A-Luminate Brightening Serum

I am a big Alastin fan and use their products when doing facial treatments like Morpheus 8 or lasers to help speed up healing time. They launched this new brightening serum. I was first in line to try it out. I have been using it as the last step in my serum line up to help brighten my skin and reduce pigmentation. This product is pretty incredible, I have noticed a reduction in pigmentation that has been stubborn pretty quickly. I also love the texture, its super moisturising but not thick. If you suffer from hyperpigmentation, this one is worth the try!

Captain Blankenship Dry Shampoo

I am always trying non toxic dry shampoos, although I have ones that i use and love, I need to know what’s out there, always in search of the best products. I picked this one up on a trip to Toronto and have used it a handful of times to revive my hair! This one smells AMAZING, and it works really well. I also like the application method, it’s hard to find non toxic dry shampoos, in powder form that apply nicely. My only comment is that it can be hard to work it in so it doesn’t show, it’s not as invisible as I’d like. Very good option!

Environ colostrum

I am a BIG Environ girl! Absolutely love their products and have been wanting to incorporate Colostrum into my skincare routine. I don’t have sensitive skin but I have been listening and reading about the benefits of this ingredient in skincare and needed to see for myself. This serum is enriched with vitamins and a variety of antioxidants, including Green Tea, vitamin C and vitamin E,  and helps to protect the skin from external and internal stressors resulting in skin that feels soft, soothed and protected. So far I am incorporating when my skin needs a boost! Kris uses it as well when he is extra dry or his skin is stressed. It instantly calms the skin. I can’t say yet if this will become a staple for me but it’s a great one to have around for the days your skin needs a little extra TLC!

Biologique finishing serum

VERY into this product! I was recommended this by my facialist at Georgia Louise in New York and then again by Beate, owner of Boutique Skin Envie. This is a finishing serum, meaning it’s the last step after moisturizer. It is meant to enrich the skin’s hydro-lipidic film. I love the texture and the way it makes my skin look! Under makeup, skin looks dewy and plump and in the morning I wake up with super healthy, happy skin. I do notice the difference on the days I have forgotten to use it! I will say, if you’re a skincare junkie like me, we love an extra step but for those who want to keep it simple, finishing serums will not be for you.

Kosas bronzer

I tried this bronzer years ago when it first came out and didn’t love it. I found it very dark and hard to blend but it got major love from others and I believe went viral on TikTok. They reformulated and added more shades so i figured i would give it another try. For me, it’s a no. I don’t see whats so great about it and i still find it doesn’t blend into my skin nicely. It also doesn’t leave me with a soft, buttery finish that I look for in a bronzer. Maybe I’m applying it wrong? It’s a pass for me. 10 on 10 for packaging though!

dibs desert island stick

You guys made me try Dibs, Ii’m not a big Tik Tok user but apparently this brand is all over TT and a must try so of course, I ordered everything. I got this stick in 2 shades ( out of office / vacay vibes and wine not / cocoa kiss). They’re great and really easy for when you need to do your makeup on the go because they have bronzer and blush in one easy to use stick. The formula is creamy and applies nicely. I do find they don’t last as long as I’d like but I’m still a fan and think they’re great.

Dibs beauty Status Stick

I also got this item when trying out Dibs and really like it! A little goes a long way! I love using it as a daily highlighter and also on my eyelids! Very simple and straightforward product that works well! Definitely worth a try!

Saie Foundation

I am still testing this because I’m just not sure. At first impression I really liked this, very lightweight coverage while still giving the skin a nice finish. I am just not sure because I don’t find it as dewy as it could be, especially with the word glowy in the title of the product. I also find there are other products on the market that are better than this so I’m not exactly blown away. I do think it’s a good option for a lightweight, bb cream type of product but I am not convinced it’s so great. I will use it more and report back if my feelings change.

RATING: 3/5
