In my mind, Sofia Richie kicked off this wedding season on March 27th when she posted her Oscars look. She wore this stunning high boatneck gown by Tom Ford with her hair pulled back into a bun. It was utter perfection. And it sent me straight into a frenzy thinking “what am I wearing to weddings this year?”

(Also, how much do we love Sofia’s style renaissance since good luck chuck? I mean, flawless.)

I have spent weeks combing through the internet for the perfect dress. Hours in group chats vetting shipping times and fits irl with distressed friends seeking the appropriate looks. The reality is, we are living in an era where almost every event could require a new outfit because we’ll be in a million photos in said look.

I can assure you, I still haven’t found the dresses I need. One is in transit and may or may not make the deadline. But I have ample back ups from years of events and an unwavering love (obsession?) for clothes.

As is my generous nature and honestly, my full time job, I am eager to share my style research with you in order to minimize your own search for the perfect dress. Here are my best dress picks for the upcoming wedding guest dress season.

When you just want the perfect LBD:

In your hunt for the perfect LBD you can just have in your closet and rely on whenever you need her, make sure your pick has these three traits; quality, fit and shape. To put it simply, if the fabric doesn’t feel nice on your hand, you won’t feel good in it for hours on end. You should be obsessed with the fit from all angles and feel absolutely confident to dance and take photos in. As for shape, don’t fall for trendy pieces. I’m a big believer of trying things on and finding the right shape for your body type. By following this, you’ll be ready for any event.

When you want something elegant yet timeless:

The slip dress is your best friend. She’s here to stay and lucky for us, there’s a plethora to choose from. This classic shape is the perfect wedding guest dress choice. It’s always flattering, effortlessly highlights your best assets and you’ll never feel overdressed or out of place because of its versatility to dress this down or up.

When you want to have FUN:

I know many who have almost passed out when opening that white envelope to read “black tie” with only 6 weeks to find the perfectly appropriate dress. Change the narrative and think this is a rare occasion to have fun with your look!

I am an editor, creative pragmatist, and visual storyteller who solves problems. Not creating, is utter devastation. I've inherently always made things, people look and feel good whether it's through mediums such as fashion, art, imagery, story telling. I'm obsessed with beauty and in Valentino's words "I love beauty. It's not my fault" I knew where I could not stand to be, and what I did not want to do, and that led me to the work I love.
