Ok! So I know I am not a doctor or a medical professional but as you guys know I love to research natural ways to remedy pretty much anything that is bothering me. Luckily after years of trying different natural / homeopathic cold and flu remedies I have truly found the ones that work best. It may be out of the box and may be numerous steps, but I can promise you… It works. This is the recipe I drink 2 – 3 times a day, the second I start to feel even a bit under the weather. I continue this process until I feel like I’m in the clear. Below I have explained the benefits of each ingredient and why it is vital for my remedy. Mix and match with elements of your own cold and flu remedy to find the perfect elixir for your own self-healing.

Ginger/ Turmeric Water (BASE):

This water is a staple in the Garbarino household. My parents drink this all day, more specifically first thing in the morning, EVERY morning… I am definitely a product of my environment. Read the full recipe here. You can also just use warm water but this is a nice bonus as both ginger and turmeric are SUPER anti inflammatory and help boost the immune system.

Lemon

– contains lots of vitamin C, that is actually absorbed by the body.

– high in minerals that help flush the body of the bad stuff.

– boots immune system.

Apple Cider Vinegar:

– contains acetic acid that kills bad bacteria.

– contains tons of trace minerals that help good bacteria thrive to fight the bad bacteria.

– helps break up mucus in the body.

Manuka Honey:

Manuka honey is nature’s medicine; what matcha is to green tea, manuka is to honey. It’s like honey on steroids. Harder to find and more expensive, but you get what you pay for and it’s like investing in a medicine. Reminder – don’t heat this up too hot or cook with it, it will remove all health benefits.

Some benefits:

– soothes sore throat and coats for immediate comfort.

– has 30 times the benefits of a regular honey.

– antimicrobial, antibacterial – literally kills the bad stuff while still tasting pretty yummy.

Oil of oregano:

Made from leaves and stems of an actual plant, oil of oregano is not from the actual herb itself. It contains phenols and different compounds that are completely antibacterial, antioxidant and antimicrobial.

Some benefits:

– known to kill superbugs.

– will fight bacteria and infection.

SIDE NOTE: I usually put 5 – 6 drops of oil of oregano under my tongue, let it sit there for like 10-15 seconds and then have my cold remedy drink. I also repeat this throughout the day.

Recipe

  • 2 Cups Ginger Tumeric Water heated to Luke warm temperature or luke warm water
  • 1 TBSP Manuka Honey
  • 1/2 Lemon squeeze
  • 1 Tbsp Apple Cider Vinegar

I take oil of oregano under my tounge, 3-4 drops and 1 capsule oil of oregano 3-4X a day with this drink concoction for 1-2 days and I don’t get sick.

When all of these steps are combined you have a magical cold remedy elixir that WORKS! There is so much more to say about all these amazing ingredients but we will get there!
