The GLW team shares their current favorite face masks. As the seasons change, so do our skincare needs. It’s important to adjust your products to fit the climate.
Katherine’s Favorite
I mask based on my skin’s needs and at the moment my skin is in a pretty good place *knock on wood*. My skin feels really balanced; I still get the occasional pimple but other than that I feel really happy with where I’m at. I have been loving this mask I got from Boutique Skin Envie, by the brand Aqua Folia, called the AquaUNDE. Aqua Folia is a brand I have used for years on and off, it’s medical grade but also made with natural ingredients. It’s effective while still being packed with good for you ingredients.
This mask is amazing because it targets pretty much everything, I am always working on without over activating my skin and keeping it happy. This mask is really hydrating which my skin loves and needs right now with the colder temperatures. It also balances the skin and keeps the skin barrier strong, which is important at helping keep overall skin health in check and reducing unnecessary blemishes. On top of all of that it also reduces dark spots, pigmentation and oxidative damage which is something I am constantly working on.
This mask is a bit of a splurge but a little goes a long way and I generally use it once a week so it does last quite a while! If you are Canadian it is also nice to support local brands.
Emma’s Favorites
I’ve only recently gotten more into a skincare and beauty routine. If you can even call it a routine. I’m still going through the steps of what works best for me. I’m currently in the product testing phase to figure that all out. I have found a sheet face mask that I’m loving. SPA Pharma – this brand uses Dead Sea Minerals and I’m all about it. I love how my skin feels after using dead sea minerals. This brightening and illuminating Vitamin C sheet face mask leaves my skin feeling fresh and glowing.
Another new face mask that I’ve been using is Burt’s Bees restoring antioxidant mask with Green Tea. This one is used specifically to fight the effects of environmental pollutants. My skin is left feeling clean and toxins free!
Both of these are very budget friendly and easy to find in many locations.
Ginger-Lei’s Favorites
This year has been stressful and face masks have a whole new meaning to us now. But let’s talk about skincare face masks, the ones we use to take a moment to ourselves after a long day or week to relax and nourish our skin. Afterall, it is the largest organ in our bodies so we should always take good care of it.
My skin has been experiencing some personal challenges. While fighting off eczema, perioral dermatitis and seasonal dryness, I’ve had to X-out many of my favourite branded products and substitute them with gentle dermatologically recommended products — Bye-bye Sephora Rouge status…for now anyway! So, one way I like to calm its redness and irritation is with gentle face masks by the brands Biophora and La Roche Posay.
Biophora face mask is a two-step process that works wonders when combined, of which was recommended by my facialist at Spa Serenity. Step 1, is applying the Enzyme Exfoliator. A gentle but powerful blend of temperature-stable pineapple and papaya fruit enzymes and mineral beads to dissolve dead skin cells which results in a smooth, glowing complexion. Step 2, is the Multivitamin Freeze Mask. A clay-based mask with Collagen, Elastin and Vitamins A, E, C, D3, K and B Complex soothes, hydrates, clarifies and nourishes while minimizing the look of pores, blotchiness and redness.
On more sensitive and dry days, I like to use a pharmacy brand that I love; La Roche Posay which was recommended by my dermatologist. The Hydraphase Intense Soothing Rehydrating Mask is extremely hydrating and soothing thanks to its gentle, fragrance-free, 100% hypoallergenic properties and commitment to helping those with sensitive skin.
