Spring has officially sprung and where I live, we are having some beautiful weather. Flowers are starting to pop up and the birds are chirping again, it really is such a nice change from everything being frozen and grey. 

Springtime is THE time to cleanse and reset after the sluggish winter months and reset your body, give your organs a little break and refresh to go into the warmer months feeling vibrant and light. 

I like to eat following a few principles that keep my body in a constant state of cleansing and truly like to live and nourish myself with the intention to keep my body alkaline. Virus, disease and inflammation can’t really survive in an alkaline body. Whereas disease thrives in an acidic environment. It has taken me years to come to this place with my health, nutrition and to truly feel aligned with this way of eating but once I started (2 years ago) I just truly cannot go back and living this way resonates with me so much. 

In the winter months I still follow my principles but often “veer” off because my body craves more warming foods, heavier foods and warm breakfasts. The minute things start warming up, flowers start blooming my body literally craves my food combining and fruit first lifestyle. 

For more information on my way of eating, I am linking my previous articles on food combining, which really focuses on how we combine different food groups to optimize digestion and energy in the body. As well as keeping the body alkaline and in a constant state of self-cleansing. 

A big part of my way of life is eating fruit first thing and generally until 12pm so that my body can eliminate whatever it doesn’t need and give energy to that process instead of digesting foods that are slower to assimilate. Here is more info on why I eat ‘fruit first’. 

Making these types of changes can be drastic and feel overwhelming, and I am not encouraging anyone to live the way I live unless that’s something that resonates with them or feels right. However, following these practices for a short time can really give you a quick boost and reset so you can feel your best going into the summer months!
